As part of what must be one of the most bizarre coincidences ever, I received yesterday this picture from my dog park friend M. He took it while visiting his mom in the central NY town where he's from.
This is the house my mom grew up in.
I'm still trying to grasp the chances of someone essentially random knowing my mom's family and the very house where she was raised. M didn't know my mom, but knew my grandpa (Oompa, we called him) who was a veterinarian and a well-regarded member of the community. His cousins lived across the street from my mom.
My mom's been gone for a long time now, so I need to grill my dad a bit and see what he remembers about the place. He only went up there a few times.
Life's a strange thing sometimes.
That is amazing! Did he take the picture because of the grandfather connection? And what a lovely house! I like the hedge + gate. It looks so inviting.
ReplyDeleteSorry for my late reply, Susan. We discovered this connection about a year ago when chatting about this and that with the dog park group, so when he knew he was going home for a few weeks, he said he'd try to get some info about the family. The picture is a bonus. :-)
DeleteSome would say (me included) that there is no such thing as coincidences. you two were brought together for a reason. You just gotta find it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm skeptical, in all truthfulness. It doesn't diminish the cool factor to me one bit to think of this as a cool coincidence.
DeleteGave me a little chill. I love how we're all connected.
